Tips for Buying Recliner Chairs

Sitting on comfy chair after hard days of work is an exquisite pleasure. But finding a recliner that is suitable for your body and budget (prices range from $250 to $5,000) isn’t easy. It is recommended that a quality lounger should last at least 10-15 years with regular use. There are so many models available. The most popular is La-Z-Boy — rock when upright and lower fully, usually by means of a hand lever. You can go for a well-built model. There are some very trendy and fashionable models that are functional and good-looking too.

A trendier option these days for the space- or style-conscious are push-back models, which recline when you lean back. These push back models do not to last as long as those with levers, since the mechanism gets more of a workout. For space conscious there are new models that do not take up as much space, also new: wall-saver recliners, which require only about six inches of space between chair and wall, compared to a foot or more needed for heftier traditional versions. There are specialty chairs, such as massage and electric recliners.

Is not it nice to get a message when you are sitting at home and relaxing? Massage chair can be quite expensive. When choosing a chair you should be aware of something. Firstly check that there’s no more than a five-inch gap between the seat and the open leg rest. Children or pets can get trapped in the gap. Same goes for the lever, you have to make sure the tiny hands (or your own fingers) can’t get stuck inside or pinched.

When you buy a recliner chair it is good to just sit on it for a couple of minutes. This old fashion way is still the best way of testing chairs. Recliners are like shoes, you want to buy a trendy design, but in the end you want to buy a chair that is the most comfortable. It is good to have a family member to accompany you in your shopping, they will help you make the right choice.

Chairs upholstered in leather are highly durable, but they are also expensive, therefore, you can have chairs made of suede. When buying recliners, it is good to focus on the frames. Repair experts will tell you that it’s usually the non-moving parts that break in a recliner. So, just check how durable the underside of the chair is. If you see heavy duty screws then you will know you are getting quality. Don’t go for low quality pressboard or plastic. These can be too soft, to withstand the back-and-forth motion of a recliner.

Ask the shopkeeper and do some comparison between the models, it is better to go for frames in hardwood, like birch or poplar, is superior, but be prepared to spend about $1,000 or more. You can buy plywood, starting as low as $300. Check that the manufacturer is offering a guarantee and always buy the product which supports a longer guarantee period.
